Physical Education - Gymnastics

Hola everyone, today for P.E  I will be sharing with you my experience with gymnastics. For the past few 4 weeks, we are focusing on gymnastics since last the time for P.E we did badminton, we always change different activities, which is also enjoyable and fun. In gymnastics, we 6 different apparatus, and some of them might be familiar. They are called the bar, beam, parallel bars, mini-tramp, floor/mat, and trampoline. There are a lot of challenges I've been through since I'm not the type of person who is very flexible and capable of doing this type of thing. To be honest, I actually regret not doing something new because I was scared and stopped myself, the only thing I'm scared about is that I might get injured. So maybe next time, I will try and force myself to try out something that I haven't done for a while.

They're probably not a lot of things I've achieved because all I did was stand, but I still tried my best and overcome some of my fear. Especially when I was doing the horizontal bar, and also the parallel bar. It was one of my favorite thing to do for the whole session of gymnastics because I quite find it easy but also hard at the same time. It was because I don't always have the strength to pick myself up. My most hated thing to do is probably the beam, I was somehow noticed that I tumble a lot when I was up there because it was high and my mind is thinking of something horrible which didn't help me a lot.

I have included my assessment. I was happy that I did some of them, but still not quite proud of myself because of cowardness.

Labour Weekend

 Kia Ora everyone,

Today we are asked to create a blog about our labor weekend break. In this task we are asked to include a couple of pics after you're written, but if we don't have pics, we can just be copied and pasted to illustrate aspects of your my text. This labor day happened on the 25 of October. The only thing I liked about this holiday, is that I get to have 1 break from school which is a great thing because I can spend time with myself., or with my family...

S P I L E S - mnemonic is also known as a pattern of letters, ideas and is a way of remembering something

S - stands for social activity( friends and whanau )

P - stands for physical ( e.g bike riding, running, sport )

I - stands for Intellectual ( e.g something you did to extend your thinking & learning such as reading, watching a demo on youTube, etc.

L - stands for Like ( things you enjoyed doing )

E - stands for emotional ( what sort of emotions during the break... happy, sad, frustrated? )

S - stands for success ( things I did that were successful e.g cooking, building something )

On Sunday the 24 of October, My family and I and my dad's family friend went to the beach. I actually forgot where it was, and what' the proper name of the location. Our main reason was, to pick up some clumps, but unfortunately, we didn't even find one so instead of finding some we just played with the water and enjoyed nature for 30 minutes straight.

I was so happy, that I get to spend time with my family outside the household and be grateful for everything. Then after that, we went to another location to see if we can find some clumps but we still didn't. The worse thing about it is that we have to walk on mud and I was actually scared that I might slip and it hurt my feet since it was non-stop talking. Still, I enjoyed it because we laughed all the way, and make fun of each other. The physical thing I did was walk for 2 hours it was boring, but in the afternoon we went to go swimming and just relax our whole body since the parents need their body to rest and have some time to themselves.

The intellectual thing, I did was finish up my essay. Well since I did nothing on a Saturday night, I planned on writing an essay so that I don't have to worry about writing them the next day. Since I wanted to have a lot of time hanging out, not worrying about any work. I don't want to keep on procrastinating, so I tried being productive and sitting on the chair not getting distracted. Then afterward, I just read my bible and went to sleep. Likes, I really enjoyed running around the sand with my sister and the kids, also running from the waves is the most fun part and the highlight of my day. I liked it because I get to experience being a kid for some time. The second thing is that I really was overjoyed when we went swimming since it's been a long time so I give you all I've got and have a favorable day.

Emotionally that day the first night which is on Sat I was really frustrated and forced myself to finish up every homework. I was tired the whole night, but luckily on the next day, I actually have time to go out and take a deep breath and enjoyed the waves and the calm breeze air. Success, the only thing that I succeeded in was finishing up every homework and being grateful for what I have in my life.

ESOL - My Holiday

Kia Ora everyone, today in ESOL we are asked to write how we feel about the holidays. In addition to this, we needed to add how things went. In this blog, we are asked to include physical activities, intellectually, and lastly emotionally.

The first three days of my holidays went a little bit crazy since I got my vaccination. At first, everything was pretty normal since I can still wash the dishes, and do other chores. But as a matter of fact that I always feel tired and my eyes and body are heavy, which makes things harder for me to move. The second day is way worse than I ever imagine since at midnight I couldn't sleep properly my hands are very heavy it's like I got punched twice, and every time I move I have to support it so that it would hurt less. But, the thing I hate about it is that I couldn't do things properly at all. So I will only use my other hand to do things I was asked for, but the thing I liked about it is that I don't have to worry about going to school since it's a holiday and I can rest. The first week, went pretty normal I eat, do chores, rested, and then slept. Then repeat. Intellectually, I actually did a little bit of reading to feed my brain with words. The thing I liked about reading is that it keeps my mind refreshed, and I also sometimes learned new vocabulary and how to actually pronounce it.

The second week of the holidays, was more exciting because I get to play badminton with my sister and also even volleyball. We always spent our time together using our phones, so we thought of why not try going outside since the weather is always nice and we don't want to waste it. After playing, we then always plan on playing on our phones with our cousin who is currently in the Philippines. Then time passed by, my friend and I planned on going out. We went to the mall, the first thing we did was to check every store just to treat ourselves to a little gift. After that, we eat and then talk about how's our day going and what is happening in our lives we talked about those types of stuff. As well as that, we both don't know where we're going so we just watched a movie called Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. It was a good movie, and I really enjoyed watching it with her.

I really enjoyed the holidays, since I get to treat myself better and rest more. Since sometimes school is very draining, and we always need some time to look after our self and enjoy what freedom actually means. I was happy, that I also get to hang out with my family but especially my sister. We always love to do things together.

Art

Kia Ora everyone, today is our last week of term 3, and also doing Arts. I really enjoyed since this semester we are looking at photography, and the very first week of art we look at Hannah Hoch she is a dad artist. She was born on 1 November 1889, and she lives in Gotha Germany. But then afterward this dad artist die on May 31, 1978, but the location was a bit different she died in Berlin Germany. Her story goes like this...

In 1936, she bought a house near Berlin and lived throughout the Second World War. She was also praying that all of her neighbors would note her identity and give her away. Then a man named Kurt Matthies was a businessman and a pianist in 1938. Hoch’s darkly playful Dada dolls stand apart from the work of the other artists in the Berlin Dada group with whom she was related. Given that the Berlin chapter of the Dadaists was only founded in 1917, these small-scale sculptural works indicate her awareness of Dada ideas in general since its inception in Zurich in 1916. Hugo Ball, a writer, was most likely an influence on her.  The ball rose to prominence for his performance of sound poetry there, which he delivered while dressed in a mechanical-looking outfit made up of geometric shapes. The costume can be interpreted as a commentary on the contradictory feelings people have about developing technology. At the time, technology was both appreciate and feared as it was both social and economic progress while also posing a threat to humanity.

Her accomplishments: Hoch was a pivotal figure in the self-conscious practice of assembling disparate photographic elements from various sources to create art. This strategy of combining previously unrelated images to make sometimes startling, sometimes insightful connections was adopted by many Dada and Surrealist artists of her era, as well as later generations of post-modern conceptual artists in the 1970s and 1980s.

In art are making photomontage, if you are not familiar with this word. This is a type of process and the end result of making a photograph by using these materials such as gluing, cutting, rearranging, and overlapping two or at least more photographs into a new image. The good thing about this is that you need to use your imagination and be more unique and creative. Also using the images wisely. There is also another similar word for this, and that is collage. Collage is a composition of materials and objects that are pasted over a surface, but photomontage is a single composition series of pieces of paper, photo, or any other media artistic image. For my work, we are asked to make three different collages using the categories of Haute Couture, or maybe we can do anything we want and go crazy with the images. To make this easier for us, she gave us a site that can easily take off the background. This is called remove. bg, this will change everything when you are editing.

ESOL - End of Term reflection

Good morning/evening everyone, today in ESOL class we started with a listening test. This is kinda bit fun since we don't have to do much work for this hour, and for my result, I was quite happy with how it comes out. For my end-of-term reflection in ESOL, well we did tons of reading and writing tasks. But for the past few weeks, we have been silently reading this book called "WONDER" since we didn't get to read it whole we are on lockdown. We are doing, what we missed out in lockdown so we continued it. For me since, I'm almost finished with the book. So I think that it was a great book since it has some lessons in life. Such as no matter what you look like, just be yourself and be confident.

We are also doing some tasks around this book, and I find it fun to do it on my own time. But also in school when I'm doing work I like to talk with other people and discuss things with them. Even though some of the tasks take so long, I don't really mind as long as I finished them on time. The good thing about doing this stuff is that we have to critically think, be creative, and just have fun. Like when you're reading a novel, it will improve your vocabulary and it will feed your brain with words which is a very great thing. The best lesson I have had is that when the teacher is reading to us, I really enjoy it since all we have to do is to listen really carefully and remember the most important part of the plot. I also find it very relaxing, and very peaceful but sometimes I quite find it a bit boring. I also enjoyed doing, group activities, and also watching a movie.  I like doing group activities since I have the chance to communicate with other people and talk to them, even though we're really not that close to each other. Communicating with others is a good thing, I get to find new friends and also boost up my confidence. Talking to others takes a lot of courage, since the one you are scared of the consequences, two you are afraid they might make fun of you. I would probably try to be more confident when I'm presenting in front of the whole class, and I will also try to improve my listening skills and stay awake. Because sometimes I feel really tired and don't have the energy to do work and it wouldn't help me to stay focus and finish up my work. To also pay attention to the whole class, and especially to the teacher. I enjoy doing ESOL this term, and I can't wait to do it again next term.

Science ( Electricity and Electroplating with copper )

Good morning/evening everyone, today for the end of our topic for science. Since it's the end of term 3, and probably we will be moving on to something new and different topics. Our science teacher gave us some different topics, we can choose from but it needs to be related to electricity because that was our focus topic only this term. I can't choose a topic between what's the difference between parallel and a series circuit, and how does lightning work. So I made up my mind, and look about how does lightning work. Also, this is related to static electricity.

At this point in the hour, for our last session in Science, we did an experiment that is called electroplating with copper. Well, it basically means a type of process of plating a layer of copper electrolytically on any type of surface in an item. The process is that the copper will physically flow through the item, and that is reduced to the metallic state by gaining the electrons.

Experiments steps:
 - In a group of 3 to 4, then if you found a team. Gather together a Power Supply, 2 wires with clips, Copper Sulfate solution, Copper, Beaker, and safety glasses. Or any item you wanted to plate.
- Secondly, put your clips onto the positive and negative terminals of your power supply. Attach the copper to the positive wire and the metal you want to plate to the negative wire.
- Put the copper sulfate solution in a tall beaker and put the copper and item in the solution. Avoid the clips entering the solution.
- The last step, is that set your power supply to  6 Volts and remember to turn it on! And level it for several minutes.

Result/Discussion:
The result is actually very interesting, from what I can see is that after leaving it for several minutes. You can see that it will form a thin layer, solid, metallic copper that is spreading all around the surface of the item. Copper in the Blue solution was Cu 2+, with an electrical current turned into Cu ( which is the orange metal ) on the negative electrode.

Electrons can be managed to knock off the atoms of one object and stick to the atoms of the other when two materials rub against each other. Objects that lose electrons become positively charged, while objects that gain electrons become negatively charged. If somehow the charge difference, known as the voltage, is big enough, electrons are attracted from one object to the other in order to cancel it out. All through thunderstorms, ice crystals in the clouds rub together, leading to a positive charge at the top of the cloud and a negative charge at the bottom. Whenever the charge difference will become very large, the electrons moving at the bottom of the cloud move through into the air to the positively charged ground immediately below it, resulting in the spectacular bolt of lightning. It is worth noting that one bolt of lightning contains enough energy to power a tiny insignificant town for an entire year.

Then I also looked at maglev trains:
To move, the world's fastest train employs electromagnetism. Maglev trains use powerful electromagnets to suspend themselves a few millimeters above the track. In addition, maglev trains do not have engines. Instead of engines, they are propelled along the tracks by the changing magnetic field. A maglev train through Japan has reached a maximum speed of 581 km/h, but if those run into tunnels with no air to slow them down, they could one day reach speeds of over 6,000 km/h.

A connection between both electricity and magnetism, including when an electric current or an alternating electrical field generates a magnetic field, and whenever a changing magnetic field tends to produce an electric field. Electromagnetism has been the science of control and the forces and fields that accompany it. Electromagnetism includes both electricity and magnetism. Electric charges, whether at rest or in motion, generate electric forces.

I got all of my information from a book, that my Science teacher let us have read it. I have enjoyed looking at these different terms.

Flyer - Wananga (Mental Health Week)

Kia Ora everyone, today we are looking at Mental Health Week. Yes, we needed to focus on checking how we feel about today and what are the things I can do to myself just to stay positive. Yesterday, we started doing one activity which is writing about how we feel, what my hopes are for the week a who would I love to take time to korero with.

So today is Tuesday, and I'm really excited to share with you what are the activities around it. There are 6 different activities we can do. Either it can be outside or indoor. I have chosen the activity of creating a flyer that advertises some local activities that can be done in the Canterbury Area. Also to make things easier for us they gave us some websites to assists us. I have chosen to make a camp flyer since I also love going to camp with my family and friends and enjoy the nature outside. For my location, I picked to go to Sumner Christchurch. Because one they have beautiful scenery, and they also have a great place to camp.  To make this we can either do it on paper or on our Chromebook. Since we only have 1 hr of wananga time today I choose to make it on a Canva. I have enjoyed creating this, one I get to think critically of what are some activities that will catch the audience's eyes. And also how I can present it to them, formally.
