Diary of Anne Frank

In our homeroom class, the whole class was reading about the diary of a young girl Anne Frank. I didn't get the to hear the first start of the story because I have different classes at that time, but luckily my friends told me what are the important things that happen in it. Which that's why I catch up, and heard the middle part of the story, until the end. At first we all have to answer some questions that relate to the pages we were at, but we didn't get to finish answering all of it because we don't much time left if we keep reading them. So we skip some bits of the story, so at the end we get to blog it and do some other activity about it. The Diary of Anne Frank is an amazing book, because I get to learn some things about a teenager life. Because Anne is just a 13 years old girl, who was stuck with the same people for 2 years. It was like when we were in lock down but the difference is that we only stay for a month, but she stayed in a small place eating a small amount of foods, and staying with the people she actually some how don't like based on their personality.

Summary:

So on her thirteenth birthday, Anne Frank receive a beautiful diary book from her parents. She was really excited, because she can write all of her secret and thoughts about the things that is happening to her life. Anne Frank started writing her daily events, her thoughts, school grades, boys all that. Just within a month, her entire life changes as she was Jews in German Holland. The Frank family was terrified for their lives, because when Anne's Margot is called to appear to be called up and go to the concentration camp, that's why the family started and go hiding. They hide into a little section of Anne's father's office, and they go behind the bookcases .Which was called the " Secret Annex" in the Thursday of July 9 1942. They lived there for 2 years, the family lived with other people which is Mr and Mrs van Daan and their son Peter ( which is older than Anne). Later on Mr Dussel ( an elderly dentist ) which why Anne has to share bedroom with her. Anne grows in her knowledge of politics and literature, that's why she puts a lot of effort writing to her diary. When she started growing further and further, she didn't hangout with the other people more often. But she started hanging out in the attic with Peter, around those time she started falling and dreaming about the boy she love. And also there's a big change for Anne and that is when the war seems to be ending, so she started editing her diary with vigour and excitement. Her diary describe the struggles of her life, and there are her the diary ends. Then after two months after Anne's fifteen birthday, and after 2 days her last diary entry. The Secret Annex is raided, that happened on August 4,1944 .

I would recommend this book, because it was really interesting and anyone who is interested in historical, war, mystery type of book. I really like this book, because there are a lot of fun mystery stuff happening in the book. I would love to read another book about Anne Frank, because she is type of girl who is brave and can take care of the situation really well she is really inspiring. She is kind, humble, lively.

Science

In our Science class, we were doing different experiment everyday we have it. The first one was when the science teacher did something fun in front of us, and that is doing is putting a dry ice into a -78 degrees Celsius water. And that show a chemical reaction by showing some white smoke rising in the conical flask. They did it in every different temperature, like warm, cold. Sublimation it means something will come to solid to a gas immediately. The second thing we did was an experiment of hands in icy water, the aim for that is to know what are the different feelings when you put your hands in a water full of ice, and for 20 seconds and secondly put it to a normal water, then tell how you felt. Then a hot water, when we were doing that I was with my groups of 4. every single one of us, get to experience doing it and we also have different job and that is one of us need to record, and one is need to count.

Then nextly we did something about melting ice in tin foil, the aim was to know how does it take to melt the ice in different object. We can work alone or work with a buddy, I plan to work with my buddy and she did was to help me record of how long will it take to be fully melt. By just holding them, we change jobs because it was freezing. And then at the end our record was 5:46.34. I had fun doing this activity and I was happy about it because I get to learn things about science.

Planet Detective

In our Science, we all were learning about the different mass between one planet and another. But furthermore it was more actually based on the planet Mercury, and Earth some were questions is some how kinda not easy to answer which took me a lot of time to do. Same rule, we just need to research it and write it as an explanation writing. So my goal was to write at least 6-7 sentences, and make sure it was explained properly and it was understandable.

What are two reasons Mercury lost most of its atmosphere?

There are many reasons why Mercury lost most of its atmosphere, unlike the other planet. It was because of the little gas it has its trillion thinner air, and at the surface of the Earth therefore it was completely undetectable by any of the normal means, and because of its lower surface of gravity even to the Sun. And any of the gases that currently exist to the surface will immediately escape within the short period of time. Did you know that Mercury’s original atmosphere formed 4.6 billion years ago with the rest of the other solar planets. It has a lower gravity because it is really close to the sun surface, and it sometimes receives some buffeting from it’s solar wind. Mercury is made out of hydrogen, helium, oxygen, sodium, potassium and water vapour. Helping this solar planet to hold on to its atmosphere is its magnetic field, while the other gravity helps the other gases to the surface. Even more the magnetic field helps to deflect the solar wind around the planet. Like it does to the Earth, the atmosphere of Mercury is also one of the most tenuous in the solar system. And that’s why the solar wind will still blow much of its way. So the sources on the planet were constantly filling up again.

Compare how close Mercury & the Earth are to the Sun

The Mercury is the closest planet in the sun, as such it circles more faster than the other planets. On the other hand the Earth is on average astronomical apart from the sun, and then Venus will be leading second after Mercury. In terms of orbits Mercury and Earth could not be more than different from one another, the hot planet(Mercury) has the most eccentric orbit other than any planet of the solar system. Just because of that it makes it closer to the sun between 46 million km, as its closest to 70 million km, as its fathers. That puts Mercury much more closer to the sun, and it will actually only take 87.969 Earth days, but for Earth it will take 365.25 days. Also Mercury will be the second descent planet after the Earth that had a huge metallic core, and even Mercury speeds around the sun every 88 Earth days.

Compare how much mass Mercury & Earth have.

According to density, mass, and even volume. The mass and volume of Mercury is the only about 0.055 times of the Earth, but because mercury is the smallest planet among the rest it also means it has small mass that enclosed the inside a tiny body. The planet only weight in 5.427 grams per cubic centimetre, or 89 percent of the density of our planet. Approximately the Mercury mass 0.330 x 1024 kg. So we all know that Earth is also one  of the terrestrial planet, and it is the largest and densest, withe the average of 6.371.0 km. And a mean of density of 5.514 g/cm3. Furthermore the mass of the Earth will be 5.97 x 1024 kg.

How does not having an atmosphere affect the temperature on Mercury?

We all know that the Mercury is the closet to the sun, and it doesn't have any atmosphere. And the only problem is that it intensely affects the temperature on its surface, when it doesn't have any atmosphere is present the sun during the day it enter directly leading to the very very high temperature. Just when the night and the sun is not present, the temperature of the plane is the opposite of hot. When it was cold it will make it an unfavourable to live on, as it does't have any atmosphere at all. The sunlight cannot be entrapped and even the temperature reaches to its minus during nights. That's one of the reason why we were lucky enough to live in Earth, because it was not that really close to the sun unlike the Mercury and the other planet who was affected by this.

Where do names Mercury and Whiro come from? What are some other names of the planet?

Mercury or also called Takero, Aparangi, or Whiro. Whiro actually stands for the lord of darkness and embodiment of all evil , in Maori mythology. He inhabits the underground and it was responsible for the ills of all the individuals, as a contrast to his brother and to his enemy Tane. For Neptune it was called Tangaroa or Takaroa, for Uranus it was known in Maori as Rakipo, Wherangi or Rangipo. For the Earth, this has a personal name Papatuanuku. Then for the moon it was usually called as Marama but sometimes it was called as Rona, Mars as Matawhero sometimes Tumataueka. Jupiter can be called as Parearau, Kopunui or Rangawhenua. Then lastly Saturn it was called Parearau, it was confusing because it has the sme dilect as the Jupiter. But it was most commonly called Rongo.

Wind Power

Here in our Science class, we have to create a poster about wind, solar and geothermal. At first we have to choose a buddy, and worked together as a team. And when we prove that we can work together really well, we will get some points. So for me I didn't work with one of my closet friend, so I work with a different person who I usually don't hangout a lot with. She was Evelyn, the both us think that we can create a poster about wind mills. In the diagram we have to include a photo or a drawing, and also a description of how the energy source works. The disadvantage and advantage.

One of us is putting some information and brain storming stuff, while the other one is drawing and researching the 3 disadvantage and the advantage of win power. That one is my job, since the other day my partner is now here. So I have to take over, and actually I was rushing since we have to finish it in 20 minutes, and I was having a hard time because I'm only by myself. Furthermore, luckily I finish it in time, and I added the things that it need to be included.

So how it work?

- So when the blades start moving, the three blades will spin a shaft that will lead to generator.

- Those generator can consists of an conductor, like a coiled wire. That are surrounded by the magnets/

-Rotating shaft turns the magnets all around to its conductor and also it generates an electrical current.

- All of the sensor causes the above of all turbine, to rotate to face into the wind and the three sharp blades will change their angle to best catch those winds. And let me tell you the blades are flexible and will automatically stop spinning if the wind is too strong.

Steps:

- Wind turns the turbine blades.

- Spinning the shaft

-Generating electricity

- An inverted converts electricity from to DC to AC.

- The electricity is connected directly to its main power, or sometimes it was connected to a battery bank. Or maybe connected to the electricity grid.

Advantages :                                                                           Disadvantages:

- Renewable energy                                                          - Unreliable wind strength

- Pollution - free                                                                - Threat to wildlife.

- Cost - effective                                                               - Noise disturbance.

Margaret Mahy

This will be my second activity that I have to do, and this time I have to create a biography about Margaret Mahy. Who is an children's books author, and my second task is to tell you guys the 8 new things that I have learned about her. I actually didn't have any idea that she will be an author, at first I thought that she is just an ordinary women who did something that change this country. Actually in other word she is a women who, didn't give p writing her stories.

8 new things I have learned :

- Margaret Mahy, is the oldest among the rest. She is born in Whakatane. And was born in March 21, 1936. Mahy is writer for the children and adult, and her books was translated in 15 different language.

- Secondly Mahy book always reflect her delight in fantasy, magic, adventure, humour, etc. I also learned about her parents, why she start writing. Her father was a engineer who also read different stories to them, and in other hand her mother was a teacher who teach young people in Primary.

- Then she even wrote her first story when she was at the age of seven. And in 1955 she attended the New Zealand Library School in Wellington, then she receive her diploma. Then work for he Petone Public  Library.

- In 1967 she had her stories published in the New Zealand Journal, and at the time of 1980 she become a full-time writer and has even receive tons of awards. And had the honour for her contribution to New Zealand and the children's literature.

- And Mahy was even the first recipient of the Auckland College of Education's in 2002. In 2005, Mahy receive a secondary doctorate and the Phoenix award in Canada . At the same year she was honoured as a living icon of New Zealand art.

- In December 2015, the Margaret Mahy was opened in Christchurch. the playground design was actually inspired by one of her best known fantasy book.

- Margaret Mahy Treasury, the eleven favourite stories from the marvellous Margaret Mahy was published by puffin in 2011.

- 23,July 2012. At the age of 76 Mahy passed away. Everyone missed her in the New Zealand children's publishing world, even though she passed away her marvellous work still continues of the young generations of New Zealanders.

Water safety

In our wananga, the 7-9 people need to do a few exercises while the others is doing some test. That activity depends on our EOTC week that will occur one week from now, we as a whole need to make in any event 1 activity structure from each slide. The absolute initial one I made is to make 8 tips on water well being, and I utilised the site called canva to make a banner. It was simple and furthermore fun utilising it, so here is the banner I made about how to be protected in the water. For me it was truly critical to realise that how will generally be protected despite the fact that I'm now a young person, since I would prefer not to place my life into a damage.

Christchurch, 2011 earthquake

This week we are finding out about the 2011 Christchurch, quake. Same thing we as a whole need to research and watch recordings about the fiasco, and furthermore this task is our last unit. We took a gander at how the quake change our city , and furthermore the individuals here. There's likewise just 4 inquiries we need to answer, and some of them I need to discover more about it because occasionally it just tell a little realities/facts. Just fortunately a portion of the reciprocal content helped me a lot, because I need to help my thoughts and on the off chance that I don't have that much answer for me it seems like I don't research and peruse the content that was given to us. Also I have to do a task when I have to create a D.L.O about my favourite place here in Christchurch, and why is it important to me or why it was my favourite place.

So here is the slide:

Protest

A lot of thing that happen here on our Hurumanu. This week we as a class were discussing protest, that occurred here in New Zealand and why they are significant. There's various sorts of dissent like when a lot of individuals needed to change something, racism, LGBTQ, But generally I had been truly center about these protest, and it was about ladies suffrage. At the primary spot this thing grabbed my eye, and it's not on the grounds that I'm a youngster. It was on the grounds that I needed figure out how every ladies here in New Zealand, go to bat for their privileges and how they battled with government with no viciousness or any harm to the network.

Question: Why do you think it's important to learn about our local heroes ?

It's really important to remember them and to learn how they fought for the country. And to actually learn how positive they are, and how they shows commitment when these local heroes were having a hard time. That's why for me, it is really good for us to learn about them and be respectful to each of them.

I took in a ton about these, and including learning new words and what does each word mean from the diverse dissent subject. This time for my introduction I utilised slide to put the realities that I learned. Furthermore, here is additionally a DLO about Springbok Tour.

Egg Drop Science

In our Hurumanu 3 class, them and I are doing this challenged were it include communicating with others. In day there's this a lot of steps we have to follow, and the first one was to plan and test some of the ideas we have. And me and Linny did different tasks, like one of us is making the base. Then one is helping out to put the tape, and put them all together. The next day, one more person joined our team she helped us put the plastic parachute that I created on the side. I was really scared at the very first place, because we are not allowed to put something soft around the egg like tape. So I thought why not put some foam, and shape it like a box so that the egg is protected inside.

Steps:

1. Create the base and put a soft foam on it, and then put another base that was made of Popsicle sticks and stocked by a tape.

2. Then that's time where we created the box foam, so we can put the egg on it. The thing is that it need to be secure, and make sure it won't fall off.

3. And then the last thing is that I created a parachute that has hole in its 4 sides, and put a 4 strings then tie on the side of the base.

Things you need :

Popsicle sticks, tape, square foams, scissors, plastic, and a strings.

We were in rush because we only have 20 minutes to create it, and one of my team mate is is being in rush and really panicked. The real question was did the egg survive: Yes, it survive because there's a lot of foam that is compress with each other. And the parachute is big enough to help it land smoothly. Uploading: 353998 of 353998 bytes uploaded.       LINK for the VIDEO: VIDEO

Gravity

Kia Ora, welcome back to my blog and today is another lesson of science. This time, I'm here to share to you guys what we have been doing, and I have been researching. So I was researching about "GRAVITY", and same rules I  have to answer the questions that was given.

1. Is gravity the same on all planets?
-  Some of them are the same as the gravity, but not all. And to support my answer I learnt that the Venus is a similar gravity as the Earth, and following up Mars is also similar to the Earths gravity. While in other hand the 7 planets were the opposite way such as the Mercury, Moon, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. It just depend on the size of the planets, mass and the object. And when it comes the solar systems, which is massive and in every size and mass that cause the strength of gravity o their surfaces varies considerably. They all come into a different sizes, because they all have their own properties. They are all different distance away form the sun, and all of them are made out of stuff form the Earth planet.

2. How is gravity related to mass?
-   Well mass is where when one of the object and a person is weightless on one of the planets, causes of the lack(not having enough) of the gravity. Firstly gravity is an attraction between a two objects that have the mass, well the amount of gravity is always directly to the mass amount of the object. And inversely (the opposite of order) proportional to an square of the distance between the two objects. Then the gravity is a force that increase the speed the object of falling, because they accelerate(began to move very quickly) .What I'm saying is that the Earth's gravity comes from all its mass. In short answer the objects that have more mass have more of the gravity, and sometimes the gravity also gets weaker every time with distance. So when one of the object is closer to one another, the stronger the gravitational pulls up.

3. Calculate your weight on the other planets in our solar system.  Which planet would you weight the most on? The least?
- My weight here on Earth is 38 Kg, and for Mercury I weight 14.4. And actually I was shocked that I only weight like that, and then I just notice that I weighted the same when I'm in Mars. The planet that I weighted the most is Jupiter because I weighted 88.9. In some planets I weighted 42.6, 34.10,etc.

4. How would your life be different if you lived on a planet with a higher gravity? With lower gravity?
- So in the event that we as a whole lived in a higher gravity, we as a whole would die. Why? Well it was since, supposing that the gravity is solid the entirety of our platelets will be pulled down , and possibly our bone may break which isn't acceptable. Also, even we could be nailed to the cold earth like, at that point couldn't move all pieces of your body in light of the high gravity. At times you wouldn't have the option to breath appropriately, and it may crush your chest. We as a whole should be considered about the sun, in light of the weight that it delivered which is the hotness , while the gravity arranges it. The expansion of gravity does it most exceedingly terrible harm far below the world's surface.

On the off chance that we don't have quite a bit of gravity it would in the long run brings it cost down on all our planets. the itself would be destined to break separated into certain lumps and buoy off into space. What's more, without the power of gravity to hold it together, there's this exceptional weights its center would make it a burst open in a titanic blast.

World War 1

Kia Ora everybody, today in our social Studies. There's this new task  where we need to do the complementary content, and this week we are finding out about the entire story of WW1 including the New Zealand women. At the first place the entire class and I need to conceptualise the thing we ALREADY know, and we even watch a video that discussed the nation that battled with one another. This week task was by one way or another troublesome in light of the fact that we need to respond to a ton of inquiries, and a some of the videos that was intended for us to watch didn't work. Questions of the inquiries are kinda hard and that we were unable to discover the appropriate response in google or in the content.

I took in a great deal about WW1 and realities about the ones who took after crafted by the men. So here is the record brimming with my answer, and here is my little bit of blurb that I made.  So to give a little snippet about my drawing. At the top you can see the Title says " NZ WW1", and after ward at base left you can see a trooper holding a banner and a weapon behind me. As the shadow of the soldiers there this cross , that took after them that they kicked the bucket with penance. I simply need to be innovative, and after ward at the base right you can see these three crosses. In the center you can see the huge one since that speaks to the head of New Zealand. and after ward alongside it, there's some mineral cross. At the lower part of it, the poppies since when they all kicked the bucket the poppies ascend in every one of the graves

Science

How far they'll go: Moana shows the power of Polynesian celestial navigation

Kia Ora everybody, today in our Hurumanu 3 class our teacher needed us to compose a clarification expounding on the Polynesian navigators, and how would they do that. So when we do this we need to pick if were advanced with regards to composing stuff,I picked advanced and my responsibility is to initially compose my presentation about the subject, and after ward in section 2 I need to compose facts about navigation in space, passage 3 the Polynesian Navigation. Finally the end. I need to recall to in any event compose 6-7 sentences in each section.

Before we compose our unique composition, we need to let out mate read our work and let them gave me a criticism. Also, when I have my input, I can naturally change my blunders like my syntaxes/grammars, spellings, and so forth I had a great time learning this thing on science, since I don't think a lot about it. It was hard toward the start since we need to surge, since this is our last day of composing this.

What am I explaining? Well I’m explaining to you what is navigation, have you ever used the stars to navigate?

Also have you ever known that the Polynesian navigate the stars while on their boat.

Do you ever know the steps? Why do they do that?

Navigation is also the other definition of GPS, this is just an example of navigation( it means following a route ) Starting off with navigating the stars, so what I am saying is that when you are lost you can use the stars but the only thing is that you should know where the North and the South are. Navigating is really important for you to learn, because when you get lost in the sea you can easily find your way home if you know the steps. The only thing is that there’s a lot of steps and instructions that you should learn before you get lost.I have a lot of reasonable evidence to suggest why you need to listen to this writing of mine.

The space navigators are all used to do techniques by just using the sea and the air, but then suddenly they created a new science space navigation. That invention used stars sighting, precise timing, and even radio communications. In addition a lot of people actually used the stars to navigate, these people were the Polynesian when they were travelling across the vast sea. Therefore in the sea there is no wife signal to contact someone. Because they are in the middle of the deep blue ocean/sea .Moreover, the Polynesian people navigated the star a thousand years ago, that’s why they have a plethora of knowledge. That maybe all of them learned from their leader/master of the community.

Polynesian navigation is actually hard to follow because there’s a lot of steps, and knowledge that we all need to know. Furthermore, if you want to learn how to navigate stars then you must know the Northern Hemisphere, and the Southern hemisphere. The very first thing you should know, is to learn your constellations well. This is a group of stars that would create a difference of patterns in the sky. These stars sometimes shift in the sky, and will be only visible depending on the season.  There’s this constellation called circumpolar, this was visible all year long. It never rises or sets, knowing this constellation will make your life easier and will help you more because this allows every navigator to find their way home using this. Primary constellations that were located in the Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere. The Ursa Major also known as the big dipper, was found in the Northern Hemisphere, this thing shapes like a big bear. This sometimes was called a saucepan, it can easily be spotted in the northern sky. It will also help you how to locate the North Star. Ursa minor(little dipper), the small version of the big dipper. It can be really helpful because the North Star will always be the last star on the Little dipper’s handle.

Cassiopeia is a group of brightful five stars, and when you look in the sky you will see it as the shape of W. Can also be used to find the North Star when Ursa major isn’t visible in the sky. Orion a three bright stars, it was a recognisable constellation of the Northern Hemisphere. This has guided the navigators for decades. Now let’s talk about the Southern Hemisphere constellation. Crux also known as the Southern Cross, this is actually the most important constellation of navigating. It symbolises the five stars that form like a cross, and guess what it was the smallest constellation in the space. Centaurus, the opposite of the Southern cross, resembles like the Greek mythology, and the Southern Cross constellation is useful to identify more of the south. Now let’s find out how to find the Southern Cross constellation, since we're in the south not in the north. And the North Star is only visible at the northern hemisphere, and we wouldn’t be able to find that easily. Although this constellation is not as bright like the others, and this can be seen year-around at every seconds of hour in the night. And no matter what time of year it is,the Southern Cross always reaches its highest point in the starry night only when it’s pointed due south. You’ll see this stand perfectly at the very upright of the horizon, with its long part of the cross pointing straight towards the south pole. Still there are some more steps to follow, so you need to draw a line at the very top star of the Southern Cross( Gacrux), and then of course to the bottom star of the cross ( Acrux ).

Did you know that the Centaurus is located next to the Southern Cross, and to remember it has two bright pointer stars that create the front leg of Centaur. These two pointers are known as Alpha Centauri and Beta Centauri. Once we found out the Southern hemisphere and Northern hemisphere we need to locate the East and the West. It’s really easy. All you need to do is to streak your arms out straight to the both sides. So when you are facing the north, your left arm points west and the other point at the north. Then when you are facing the south, your left arm is pointing in the north direction, and the other side points in the west. Orion also helps the navigators to find the east and the west because it rises in the east and sets in the west.

Now we need to know how to determine your latitude and longitude, since where in the south hemisphere. I will tell you the methods that were also the same as the north one, all you need to do is find the Southern Cross and Centaurus. Then you need to measure the distance between the south pole, and the horizon with your fist. This is very helpful because you don’t need to use charts or any tools. The navigators also need to know their longitude, and let me tell you that this can be hard because they have to be careful about record-keeping, but early days for them when they are navigating the expanses of waters. All they do is to track the movement of the rises and the state of the stars across the sky. Record every specific position of the rise and set that every star in the night, at the same exact time. That’s how the early navigators know their longitude and latitude.

Stars and Constellations

The ancient Polynesian used the sun, moon, stars, clouds, planets. To guide them, and to find their location. These voyagers relied on their Wa’ Kaulua or also known in English as the double-hulled canoes, they were powered by sails and steered including a single large oar. Navigators are built to be familiar with the trade wind-generated ocean swells that flow in southeast or  northwest. That helped them to identify the directions by the rocking emotions their boat is showing caused by the swells, Furthermore the sunrise and the sunset is really useful to them, because the sun indicate the east and the west, but the problem was when it created a low light on the ocean that made it possible to see the swells directly. They even also used a thing called a star compass. These people remember the points of stars and constellations, even when they are visible and different times of years. They used them to divide the sky into four parts, while their boat is the middle.

Example, when they saw a star rising they already knew that to be the Northeast. So when the Earth axis points toward the North Star, and that always indicates north. This isn’t visible in the south, so they used the Southern Cross. All you need to do is to draw a line to the first top stars and connect it to its opposite side, but then you also need to extend it 4.5 times and draw a line from there horizon. That's how they know where the south is.

So this is how the navigators know their path by utilising the stars, moon, planets. Or then again even the move of the sea. Interestingly, you have to have a ton of information about the constellations, and such things. The Polynesian were the ones who knew a ton about this, because they sail a large number of kilometres by looking at the sky.

Gold Mining - Hur 1

Kia Ora everybody, today I will be sharing you facts about gold rush and there history with the Chinese people. Our errand was to peruse the entirety of the texts that was given to us,and each time we read something intriguing we need write it down in our own words. My class and I should have at least 4 realities about gold mining, and the Chinese people. I learnt a lot about these people, and what's gold mining, where precisely it previously occurred. I discovered huge amounts of data about these which gave me more courage to compose multiple facts. So here is my facts about them.

Facts about gold mining:

  • The first European discovery of these gold was credited to Charles Ring, a Tasmanian who discovered it at Driving Creek near Coromandel township in 1852, when gold surfaced in New Zealand in the 1820s.

  • Where many geologists would agree, but they would also add that only in some regions is gold likely to be discovered. Regions are Otago,South land, the West Coast, Golden Bay, and Marlborough, Coromandel Peninsula , and a few other localised sites in New Zealand. Gold is an element which is rare, it is inert, and it is very heavy, it is glossy, it is also malleable.

  • In the mid 1860s, the Otago Gold rush peaked, after which miners left for the emerging West Coast goldfields in large numbers. In 1864, Read went back to Tasmania and spent his final years in a mental institution.

  • Wiliam Hunt, John Ebenezer White and George Clarkson with their pickaxes, were digging in the Kurunai Drain. They were one of the several groups which had flocked in search of gold to the Coromandel. Then, they hit the jackpot 150 years ago today.

  • The discovery was the first great strike in the Coromandel, and the Thames foothills were swarming with men within months. Life will never be the same again for Hunt, White Clarkson and their mate, William Cobley. They overnight turned into millionaires.

Chinese discoveries:
  • Fearing Economic failure, the Chinese miners were hired from Australia and directly from Guangdong by the local authorities of Otago-South land. A huge number of them, with some already in the country helping relatives join them, and got their ticket to New Zealand by chain migration.

  • In 186, the first party of Chinese miners came to New Zealand. From Victoria, they have been invited to Australia's goldfields by the authorities and the Dunedin Chamber of the Commerce, as soon as a Usable labour sources to increase the population and rework the goldfield of Otago after European.

  • The Chinese were disliked/hated by Europeans because of their distinct physical and cultural differences. The appearance, but also the strategic ability of them . They were removed from the culture of New Zealand, they were prohibited from living in the cities or from being buried in nearby graveyards.Luckily a few Chinese miners were successful and have earned the respect from the Europeans.

  • The store of the Ah Lum also known as Lau Lei, the very last Chinese resident of the settlement and died in 1932. His store is the modest construction of stone and wood topped with a corrugated iron roof, and is one of the most intact buildings. Back in the day, shops are usually sold a mix of items from back home along with local and European products. Some of the store keepers were literate and spoke English, so they were able to provide both English and Chinese translation and even letter writing services.

  • In Otago, there were fewer than 200 Chinese miners in 1866, but the Chinese population had risen to 1270 by April 1868. With just under 5000 miners, the population peaked in 1881.  Also fun facts each of the three main religious traditions- Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism- was practised by Chinese miners. To keep bad spirits away or welcome good fortune, several rituals are practised. Although most miners had small shrines in their nuts, in Lawrence and at Round Hill, temples were built.

Parihaka

Kia Ora everyone, today is another blog about around the world(Hur 1). This time our class is finding out about Parihaka. Parihaka is a small community, in that community it shows what harmony/peace implies, because their chief Te Whiti and Tohu fight in a passive resistance route between the Europeans warriors. They represent there individuals, and they represent their self in light of the fact that the two of them recognises what's correct. I likewise found out about Gandhi a pioneer in India who additionally fight by the British guideline, since his people were not treated right and pleasantly. Those three chiefs knows the genuine significance of Passive Resistance.

Uninvolved Resistance implies - No savagery, it additionally incorporate tranquil(calm), demonstration, fasting, and in any event, declining to follow laws or request that was given by the legislature.

So we as a class need to respond to certain inquiries concerning Parihaka, there's 13 inquiries for us to reply. I took in a great deal by watching, and perusing text about it.

Questions and Answer:

What events lead up to Parihaka being established?Well, the really main events that lead Parihaka to be established is when their people are being peaceful, and don’t want any violence in their city while the European are attacking them and getting their lands away from them, the people just stand there because they know their rights. The Parihaka settlement was founded in 1866.

What was the ideas behind setting up Parihaka? The idea behind setting up Parihaka is to make sure that no one will attack on the Europeans soldiers, when they are taking some of the lands. They didn’t fight and make sure no one was hurt, and just have a peaceful life to live in that’s the cause why some of their ancestors were taken and arrested and went to South Island jail and all of their lands were taken by them. Some of them even die in peace.

Who established Parihaka? There are two real leaders who show a lot of integrity and even clarity to their people, and these two are the ones who really show the real definition of “ Peace”. The people that I’m talking about was Te Whiti O Rongomai and Tohu Kakahi, that's why Parihaka were established in November 1881.

Where is Parihaka located? It takes place in New Zealand, and Parihaka is a small community in Taranaki region. It was located between Mount Taranaki and Tasman Sea.

When did the invasion of Parihaka occur? November 5 1881, when 1600 troops invaded Western Taranaki, which had come to symbolise peace when the Maori land was confiscated. What caused the invasion of Parihaka? In a long term of cause an Invasion of land surveying by some of the government officials. Which led to a land confiscation and the intense tensions between the Maori people and the Europeans.

How do you think the people of Parihaka were feeling when the troops entered their village? For me all of these emotions are mixed like some of them are sad, frustrated, scared, etc. Because when the soldiers started acting their hearts felt like they’re about to stop, but they were happy because the troops didn’t fire their cannon. Instead, the soldiers tooked Tohu and Te Whiti and when they were marching away the two of them told their people to be steadfast, peaceful and unafraid. Tohu called “ We looked for peace, and we find war”...

Do you think stories about the events of 5th November 1881 were reported on by the media at the time? No, I know that this event wasn’t reported on social media, and to support my ideas. I have read a text that already gave me a clue that this was reported in a newspaper, also in the early 90s the Maori people lived near a mountain that’s why they don’t have any WiFi. I also think the one who has their point of view on this was the Europeans, in my opinion they were the one who tells stories to the whole community since they are the ones who control everything in the past.

How long were Te Whiti and Tohu imprisoned? Where? What did they intend to do when they returned to Parihaka? In my research Te Whiti and Tohu were imprisoned for six months, in Ripapa South Island. When they returned to their home, both of them tried to reconstruct Parihaka as a model or in other words modern community. In 1886 Te Whiti got arrested again and returned in 1887, then Parihaka was continued as the center of non-violence resistance.

What was the impact on Māori when of the New Zealand Company and other representatives of "The Crown" confiscated or purchased land very cheaply from Māori? What happened to Māori who lost their land? Where and how did they live?

The New Zealand Company confiscated their land, and they also purchased those land very cheaply from the Maori. The Maori people who lost their lands were forced by the Europeans to move homes, after that all of them lived poorly and of course they wouldn’t stop worrying about being hurt but they were wrong because the two leaders didn't want any violence and no bloody wars. Where? They still live there because the Parihaka people know that they don’t have to leave even though the soldiers are forcing them. They stand for their rights and honour.

How do you think the New Zealand wars impacted on iwi and groups of people who were no longer able to live on their whenua?

Well the impact of the Maori’s land wasn’t that good majestic, because some of them including the kids were all getting sick. Let's say all of them are living poorly. That's why they don’t have much food to eat, because of the Europeans taking their lands. So New Zealand impacted the iwi really hard, and I strongly believe that there’s no day that they didn’t suffer. Those Maori/iwi people who lost their property/lands were all banned to take them back, from the Europeans.

What does the word PEACE mean to you? What is "passive resistance? What does the phrase mean?

To me Peace means something really special, because without it my life would be really hard and I would always suffer. Peace does not mean you always need to be in a place where there is no noise , trouble or hard work. It means to be in the center of those things and that will come to your heart. And nobody can bring you peace but yourself, you will not find peace until you listen to your heart. For me passive resistance means non-violent,fasting, also the other definition of being peaceful.

What other ways are there to solve major issues between people/ countries that do not use violence as a way of controlling others or solving problems?

Well if they don’t use any violence people will have more courage to do things that were against the law, and that will make it hard for the government to stop because they might protest against them, etc. Also people would get a long only to do bad things, and that will make their country look bad. So the only thing that will help and sort out things is to talk to them kindly, and ask them politely. Don’t force them to do what you wanted to do, because that will make the situation worse and it wouldn’t help you. Make an agreement between them or something, but you need to make sure why you want them to believe you.

Who are some of the other world leaders who have used passive resistance? What was their cause and how is/was it peaceful?

There’s a lot of leaders who have used passive resistance to their people/country. Like Te Whiti and Tohu, but this person shocked me and he lived in India. He is well known as Mahatma Gandhi but his real name is Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, this person is even the leader of Indian’s non-violent independence.  He was born in Oct 2,1869, he became a great leader when he started working for a law firm in South Africa. That’s the time where he saw people being treated badly, so he stood up for his rights. Well you see in South Africa there’s a lot of impairment against the Indians,  but Mohandas knew he couldn’t stand for it. Mohandas did some demonstrations by standing up to the British law, so he organised a nonviolent protest. That didn’t make the British happy, and it caused him to be thrown in prison but he didn’t stop so when he was in there. Mohandas fasted and wouldn’t eat. That let the British let him go out of the jail, because they were scared that when he died a lot of people would get angry and all of them didn’t want that. He inspired a lot of people when he protested non-violent and neither did I.

Spheros on Mars

Kia Ora readers, on our Science we again need to answer a portion of the questions, since Mr Reizinger isn't with us today we have various options we can do. I picked this activity since I learn more every time I read a few writings and realities about the point. So here is the questions and my answer.Questions and Answer:

1. What Rocket did the Perseverance use to get into space?

At the time of 7: 50 am Thursday on a United Launch Alliance ATLAS V rocket. It blasted off from Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. They picked this because Atlas V was one of the biggest rocket available for the interplanetary flight, NASA selected this for the Mars 2020 mission because it has the right to liftoff capability for the weight requirements and destination. This rocket is going to the red planet for the fifth time with Perseverance.

2. Describe the two vehicles that are being taken to Mars.

The name of the vehicles that was taken in Mars on the day of July 20th 1976 was "Viking One Lander". Mission of this vehicle is is to try finding the evidence of existing life on Martian surface and this lander was a spacecraft .  Other one was called "Trans habitat"

3. Where does the mission plan to land on mars? What are they looking for?

The Perseverance are landing in Jezero Crater  to the mission. They picked that  because the Scientist believe that the place was flooded with water, and it was the home to an ancient river delta. They also thought the rover will find traces and will left it behind in the rocks.

4. How will the vehicle land without being damaged?

The answer for this one is that this vehicle has a parachute that was connected, and it's job was to help land perfectly also make sure the vehicle doesn't have any damaged on it.  Those parachute has something to the side of the vehicle which is a little rockets and that will help go slowly go down, not just putting it in the surface.

Science - different ways to communicate

Kia Ora, today my class and I were finishing  off our science task that incorporate clarification composing. We all need to search some facts and study the inquiries. The absolute first thing I did is that to research a few things about the theme and pick some regular things that people used to communicate with others. We were fortunate in light of the fact that our teachers previously gave us a few thoughts, which made this undertaking simpler. A slide that show some various things that was utilised to impart, and our task was to pick 3 things that intrigue us and after that we need to do some more research. At that point make a clarification expounding on it, to me I picked cell phones, radio/walkie talkie, and after ward satellite. I struggled composing this, however fortunately there's huge amounts of site I can use to get some data.

I utilised the application canva, in light of the fact that it was more simpler to use as I would see it. So here is the introduction that I made.

Gold Rush

Kia ora everyone, today in our Social studies and reading we have to make a blog post about what we know in Gold mining. We also have to tell what discrimination mean.

All I about gold mining/gold rush, is that miners dig underground and find some real gold. I heard that this gold are mostly found only in a certain areas, and this work can be tough to every miners because sometimes you have to dig with your own hand. This happened a long time ago and now I feel like there's some different methods of how to dig and find this rare looking golds.

First method is mostly about people using shovel, their hands, pans and even cradle. Mostly people used pans for drilling, then they used the cradles to rocked back and forth. Using those thing make their life easier. Sometimes they used machine, because these gold are mostly found in rocks, have been worn down the sands, underground caves.

Second method is using the common sluice boxes, these thing are made out of wooden terrace boxes and they are long. Miners use it to go underground, so when they lift it up some gold will be trapped in the box and will also allow the light materials when they shake the sluice box gently in the water.

Third method is that you have to find a gold mine cave, and mine it yourself. If you find it difficult to do which most people feel, go find a partner and help each other find the rare gold you've been wanting. I think not a lot of people do that, because they all have their own way of doing it.

Now I will be telling you guys the meaning of " Discrimination" well for me it's about racism. Like your appearance, your culture, how you speak other uncommon language, race, gender. It's about two people being different and one person said something harmful. That's what discrimination to me.

Next week I will be telling you guys more facts about gold rush, and 4 facts of how did the Chinese people change the Maori people life.

SCIENCE

 SCIENCE

Ni hao everyone, today our first lesson in science for term 4 the whole class have to research things about " Navigation in Space". There's a questions that was given in the slide for us to answer about different things.

Questions:

1.What is Solar System? The solar system is the smallest of the three system. This consist of a star, sun, and an object that was affected by its gravity. It also include planets, moons, asteroid, comets and meteoroids. Even though the solar system is the smallest among the universe or galaxy, well the actual size of this is hard for the every human minds to truly understand. Let me tell you in terms of scale, if the sun has the size of a tennis ball, the Earth would be the size of a grain of sand. The solar system was formed approximately 4.6 billions years ago by the giant molecular cloud.

Difference between Solar system and Milky Way: Our solar system consists stars, the sun, etc. Well the milky way galaxy has 200 - 400 billions of of stars, guess what the galaxies came in different sizes. Milky way is big, but some galaxies are much longer. What I'm trying to say about the difference our Earth orbits the Sun in our solar system. The sun is one star among the billions in Galaxy so the Milky way is one among billions of galaxies in our Universe.

2. What is Star? Describe Nebula : A star is a luminous ball of gas, mostly hydrogen and helium, and that will held together by its own gravity. The thing that support the star is the nuclear fusion, because of its reaction in its core that help go against gravity. That would produce photons and heat, as well as the heavier elements. Nebula is a giant clouds of some dust and gas in the space, some of this things come from the gas that was thrown out by the explosion of a dying star such as a supernova. Other of the Nebula are the regions where new stars beginning to form, and some of them were called " called nurseries".

3. How do starts die? The start die when their nuclear are exhausted, because some of the star use up their hydrogen fuel quickly but they are hot enough to fuse such a a heavier elements like the helium and carbon. Once there's no fuel left, the star collapsed and the outer layers will explode as the "supernova".

4. Is there an up and down space? There are NO up and down in space, that can mess with the human brain and also affect the way people move an what they think of space.

5. How can Stars be used to Navigate?

First you need to know your constellations, Constellations are some grouping of stars that create recognisable patterns in the sky. Some of the constellation are called circumpolar constellations, those remains visible all year long in the hemisphere. Then you need to find the North Star, because it has served as a reliable beacon to guide them home. This is also called Polaris, and it was located directly above the North Pole and it doesn't change its position in the sky. Polaris only appears at stationary in the night sky. Third step is to find the Southern Cross, because the North Star is only visible form the Northern Hemisphere. The Southern Cross can be seen year round at every hour of the night, and this Cross can reach to its highest point in the night sky only when it was pointed in south. Find the east and West, so when you have located the north in Northern Hemisphere or the south, finding the east and west is very simple. You just need to stand facing directly north or south and then stretch your arms our straight to each side. The last three things you need to do is determine your latitude, calculate your longitude and the last thing you need to do is use your resources.

3 facts about Black Hole

- Back holes are some strange and fascinating object in the outer space, they're dense that even a light can't escape their grasp if it comes near.

- Black holes will spaghettify you and everything else, because the black holes have this incredibly ability to stretch you into a  long spaghetti. That happen when you are close to a black hole.

- This black holes slow down the time, example when one twin stays on he Earth and when the other one is zooms out into space by the speed of light, turns around, and then returns home. The twin that moves across space is much younger and the quicker you run,the slower  time passes for you. So as you reach the same horizon, because of the strong gravitational force from the black hole you move at high incredible speeds, that time  will slow down.

Daylight Saving NZ

Hello readers, today in our HR ( Home Room ) our teacher want us to search about Daylight Saving in NZ. She want us to search some facts about it, and then we have to answer all of them. We did this for fun, and I was happy because I get to learn more about it. The whole class have to share this to our blog and do the researching individually.

When does Daylight Saving happen each year in New Zealand?

This happened last Sunday of 27 September, this start each year at 2 am on the last Sunday in September, and ends at 3 am on the first Sunday of 4 April 2021. During this time New Zealand daylight time which is 1 hour ahead of New Zealand real time.

What year did it start in NZ?

In the history of New Zealand, Daylight Saving started in 1927, but the original date was March 31, 1918 on different country. This daylight saving happened in summer time, and it was extended to cover the whole year.

Why was Daylight Saving started?

History of DST in New Zealand started in 20 years earlier, but however in 1909 Thomas Sidey proposed to move the clock 1 hour forward here in our country in the summer period. It was because they want to allow extra hour for daylight in every evenings also for the farmers to have more time working at night. That will saved their power. We all have to thank New Zealand scientist George Vernon Hudson and British builder William Willett.

In my opinion I would love to continue this Daylight Saving in New Zealand, because after hearing that this will help the farmer and will save more of our power. Now I will agree to it,but daylight hasn't always been such a happy time because sometimes it confused me when I look a the time when I'm used to the real time. At the same time I love daylight time because I get to have a peaceful night. I agree for this for the parents and farmers.

Do all the states in Australia have Daylight Saving? Who does and who doesn’t?

In AustraliaDaylight saving is observed in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, the Australian Capital Territory and Norfolk Island. The one who doesn't have this were the country of Queensland, the Northern Territory, Western Australia, Christmas Island or the Cocos (Keeling) Islands.

Write 3 tips to help others adjust to Daylight Saving

1. Just stick to your real schedules, and be consistent with eating, social, bed, and exercise.

2. Avoid coffee and alcohol, and remember to not take a long naps.

3. Maybe start preparing a few days early. So my tip is to start going to bed 15 to 30 minutes earlier than your usual bedtime because your body need some extra time to make up for last hour.

Marketing Day

Kia Ora everybody, yesterday it was our market day. Yesterday was really fun however the main issue is that the climate was excessively hot, I meet different people and I figured out how to communicate with them . Before that we need to follow a few stages, as be in a gathering of 4 and plan what item are we going to sell. I was with Jhrnylle as the Marketing Manager , Jaren as the Sales/account Manager and Cate as the Production Manager, we intend to sell 6 scrunchies, 6 slime, and 8 bracelet. We sell it for just $ 2.00, in light of the fact that we felt that nobody will purchase our item in the event that it was excessively costly. Before we make them we need to email Mr Scott, and as the CEO of the gathering it was my duty to do it. I have to ensure that my letter will influential him, and disclose to him the thing we need. Our financial plan was only$20 and were not permitted to go higher than that, however on the off chance that we need it we need to reveal to Mr Scott and give him a valid justification why. We likewise need to make a banner, and make a D.L.O to show the other school who was visiting . Our gathering name was called " EUDAIMONIA" which implies happiness and blessed  in Greek word.

Employment of every individual:

Jaren as the Sales/money Manager - Her activity was to include the entirety of the expense and benefit, and posting the entirety of the stuff we need.

Jhrnylle as the Marketing Manager - She advance the stuff and publicise everybody why they should purchase our item, and her activity was to assist me with making the banner.

Cate as the Production Manager - She check everything in the event that it was all arrange, and she likewise check the things we required.

As the CEO my job was to keep an eye on everybody, and to consistently incorporate and urge my group to carry out their responsibilities.

Subsequent to making the stuff that we required, we began to make the wristband first with a three shades of yarn. My gathering and I, initially observe a few recordings of how to make an example and the main issue with this is the point at which we accomplished something the arm band will be come up short. We are simply going to squander the yarn, that is the reason we must be cautious with it. At the point when we have to make 3 more, I began thinking hwy not make my own example, and I was glad that it came out impeccably. Presently we should proceed onward, Jaren and Jhrnylle began making the 6 scrunchies it was in reality hard for them on the grounds that the texture were bad, so every time they close the scrunchies it will come out as a fall flat. At that point when we completed the scrunchies, we began making the 6 sludge and it was the most simplest thing among the rest.

Outline:

At the point when the B&E began we, I was really anxious and having this negative considerations that nobody wouldn't accepting our item. Exactly when this individual visited out business and asked what amount was the ooze, we advised her and she get one of them. Selling one stuff makes me happy, but I was not that stunned when sludge was the first that was sold out, at that point second is the scrunchies and wristband. I was glad and appreciative that everybody adores our item, I truly like how they praises us. So right off the bat before we sold out there's huge amounts of insane things that happened to my gathering and one of them is the point at which nobody was keeping an eye on our item since they felt that we are finished selling. Additionally we need to remain on the sun for 2 hours I think, so my gathering and I plan who planned to go around and look at on others' business. I was upbeat that I get the opportunity to get some foods, and other stuff. I delighted in this a lot, even however I endure being the CEO.

What might I change for next time?

Well I will really change some cost, since we just sell the slime for $2 yet in a major compartment. I thought we were not going to make so much profit, and I was right. The second thing I have to change is to control my anger issue, on the grounds that occasionally I judge my group and state a few words that hurt their sentiments, however I state sorry after it. So the key is to consistently quiet, and simply acknowledge what they made. To consistently uphold them and support them more, since that is the activity of being the pioneer of the gathering.

What amount did it cost to make your items/administrations? What amount did you get?

The cost that we obtain, and the expense to make our item was $18 dollars, since we have a ton of thing we need in our home. That made our activity more simpler, and we don't have such a great amount of issue of going higher than $20.

What amount of cash did you make on Market Day? What was our benefit?

We made the money of $37.50 and our benefit $ 22. I was glad about the result despite the fact that we just have the benefit of 22, I was as yet cheerful and thankful, and I'm truly pleased with my group.

What was this you expected?Why/why not? What could have impacted this?

I expected that the cash we will make was more than that like $40, however I wasn't right since we believed that nobody would purchase the sludge on the off chance that it was excessively costly. Additionally the other item so we sell them for $2, so next time I should ponder the costs and think on the off chance that they would purchase every last bit of it. After all I appreciated B&E, simply need to ponder everything. I'm glad for every one of them, since they all made an honest effort and we they put an excess of exertion on it which makes me truly happy.
